Ever wonder why some Facebook cover photos look far better than others on mobile? The response is always a great developer (not that I'm prejudiced or anything), yet I recently found an awesome method in order to help less of your hard work obtain cut off when seeing from a mobile phone-- and also still look fantastic on desktop.
Terrible as I am at bearing in mind numbers, I'm constantly googling "FB cover picture dimension" (or viewing our quick-reference infographic), and the very first answer that always pops up is 851 × 315, which is just what the cover image displays at on a desktop web browser. If your only issue is desktop, this is a fine size to submit your cover image. Unfortunately, we can not disregard the 798 million customers who access Facebook daily through their cellphones.
Prior to I located this method, alternatives for optimizing a cover picture for both desktop computer & mobile were really minimal: either make the focal point very little to present effectively on mobile, or make it look good on desktop and also give up the mobile experience.
Ugh.
OK, I'll reduce to the chase. Post a photo that is 851 × 475. With cover images taller compared to desktop shows, two points occur:.
Desktop computer cuts off the top & base of the photo (fortunately, it cuts off an equal quantity from both).
Mobile will certainly still remove some of the sides of the photo, but we have a considerably bigger viewable location.
