Ever wonder why some Facebook cover pictures look much better compared to others on mobile? The response is constantly an excellent developer (not that I'm prejudiced or anything), but I recently discovered a cool technique in order to help much less of your effort obtain cut off when seeing from a mobile phone-- and also still look excellent on desktop computer.
Horrible as I go to keeping in mind numbers, I'm constantly googling "FB cover photo dimension" (or watching our quick-reference infographic), as well as the initial response that constantly pops up is 851 × 315, which is just what the cover picture shows at on a desktop internet browser. If your only concern is desktop computer, this is a fine size to post your cover photo. Regrettably, we could not ignore the 798 million users that access Facebook daily with their mobile phones.
Prior to I discovered this method, alternatives for maximizing a cover image for both desktop & mobile were very restricted: either make the centerpiece very little to show appropriately on mobile, or make it look excellent on desktop computer as well as compromise the mobile experience.
Ugh.
OK, I'll cut to the chase. Publish a picture that is 851 × 475. With cover images taller than desktop computer shows, 2 points occur:.
Desktop computer removes the leading & bottom of the picture (fortunately, it removes an equivalent amount from both).
Mobile will still remove several of the sides of the photo, but we have a significantly bigger viewable location.
